My first blog writing, with a mixture of excitement and anxiety. Excited to write and publish my first article and at the same time worry about how the world views as I’m self-conscious.
Kintsugi art, as explained in Google, Japanese art for repairing broken pottery by mending breakage with a mixture of lacquer with powdered gold, silver or platinum. It shows the cracks of pottery, indirectly making the eyes focus on those cracks and gives a message to the looker that cracks can be beautiful too.
First time I hear about this, I was intrigued by the way of thinking, how can something be broken can be viewed as beautiful. With that touch of gold/silver/platinum, it gives a different way of thinking, which translates to appreciation.
Me growing up in typical belief where only perfect being or material can only be appreciated, which also means cracks are viewed as flaw and thus being understood as something not wanted.
A broken pottery instead of being discarded, it is given a new life by giving a new way of thinking and by mending it, becomes useful, as good as unbroken pottery.
